Larysa Yost holds California Teacher Credentials in Music, Russian, English, and Early Childhood education, and is member of California Music Teachers’ Association. Her students successfully pass annuals exams for the Certificate of Merit.
She has three Bachelor of Arts degrees in education (piano, Russian, and English as a second language). In the US, she also earned a Certificate in early childhood education and took a lot of graduate level courses in music at San Francisco State University. She has been a teacher since 1973.
Larysa is also a perpetual student, constantly learning about new methods to enrich her teaching. Since 2002, when she immigrated to the U.S., Larysa has been teaching music (piano, preschool and prenatal music) and Russian.
She is familiar with the main American methods of teaching music, such as Suzuki, Harmony Road, Simply Music, Music Together, etc., and she encourages her colleagues and employees of Trio School to borrow what they feel like borrowing from each of those and still honor the classical method, established by generations of great musicians.
As a Russian language teacher, educated in Ukraine, Larysa is after intensive methodologies. She is fond of teaching both native and nonnative speakers of Russian, and she successfully adds music to her lessons in Russian.
